Weekend Workshop with Jette Berring
Sustainability in Yoga Practice
In daily life, many demands compete for our time and energy. These can challenge our practice — or simply make it less enjoyable. When this happens, we often create more of the very suffering yoga is meant to alleviate. In yoga, these challenges are described as obstacles (Yoga Sūtra 1.30).
At different stages of life, these obstacles take different forms. Earlier on, we may face stress or emotional strain while the body remains relatively strong. Over time, we often gain greater clarity and understanding, while the body becomes less resilient.
This raises an important question: how can practice remain meaningful and sustainable over time?
While yoga often begins with the body, it cannot end there. Without learning to recognize and understand our own patterns and obstacles, practice can easily become a source of frustration rather than insight.
In this workshop, we explore a different approach. Instead of resisting obstacles, we learn to work with them — using them as a basis for reflection, adaptation, and long-term growth.
